new years resolutions:

got inspired to write some resolutions after seeing a list of Woody Guthrie’s new years resolutions from 1942.

a few of mine:

1. if not making a living from your art, at least try to break even

2. write one song that will be around 50 years after you have left the planet

3. go skydiving

4. tour japan

5. remember to exercise if you think you are about to go crazy

6. when in doubt, minimize

7. listen to more classical music

8. get some new dance moves

9. go on a road trip with mom

10 create more, imbibe less

Like! I started doing this at the beginning of each year a few years ago. I always try to make manageable goals that I can reach, or break down bigger goals into smaller pieces (which I think is key). In 2010, I was getting my teacher's certification in yoga, and we all made daily behavior charts which included anything from mood to hygiene, exercise/yoga routine, mindfulness practice, and nonviolent communication. I like the idea of being able to track your mood right alongside everything you did (or didn't do) throughout the day. P.S. Mahler's 10th symphony (Adagio movement) is heart-wrenching.
